Quoting the Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan:
Manisa, Turkey 28.12.2013: “There’s a gang of police and judiciary which infiltrated the state! They accuse innocent people.”
AKP Party Group Meeting 28.12.2013: “We fight against an organization which exerts pressure on the members of the judiciary.”
Atatürk Airport, Turkey 05.01.2014: “We work on legislation to allow retrial, and our work on this is about to reach fruition. We also instructed the Ministry of Justice. We are striving hard to establish the legal infrastructure. We will even pass a constitutional amendment to allow retrial.”
Malaysia 11.01.2014: “I believe the most pressing problem in the country is the judicial tutelage. We have no trust in the attitude of the judiciary. That public prosecutor(Zekeriya Öz, who pushed for the alleged match-rigging case) isn’t honest. The judiciary must clean itself above all.
Brussels 22.01.2014: “Think about it… There are public prosecutors and judges, who act on the orders and instructions of their superiors in the organization, rather than their own conscience representing the nation. This cannot be allowed or overlooked. We are not in a fight against the judiciary per se, but against such dangerous organizations. We will not permit such an organization within the judiciary.”

TGRT News Channel, 02.01.2014; “While we strove hard to eliminate other forms of tutelage in Turkey, judicial tutelage arose this time. Unfortunately the judiciary did not keep pace with the reforms we pushed in Turkey in the last 11 years. It even resisted them. Despite all warnings by the European Court of Human Rights, some judges and public prosecutors persisted in ruling in the same way. The judiciary’s rulings are based on ideology.”

The dismissals at the police department led to reappointment of more than six thousand policemen, hundreds of which are in senior positions. Nearly two thousand judges and public prosecutors were taken off their cases.
Public Prosecutor Zekeriya Öz, who pushed for the match-fixing investigation, and Public Prosecutor Mehmet Berk, who executed it, were taken off their cases and reappointed to other posts. Director of Organized Crime Division at Istanbul, Nazmi Ardıç, who was found to engage in numerous illegal phone-tapping operations, including those concerning the match-fixing investigation, was removed… Former Deputy Director of Istanbul Police Department, Mutlu Ekizoğlu, who issued the order in the match-fixing operation was dismissed.
As Fenerbahçe Sports Club, we announced that the “alleged match-fixing” operation executed by these dismissed and disqualified persons was based on no concrete evidence other than inadmissible documents, voice and communication records, and police reports obtained through illegal means, and denied by the parties, that the operation had been a clear violation of fair trial and natural justice principles, let alone the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), and that therefore, we do not recognize the rulings reached on the basis of such evidence, by courts with special jurisdiction. In all trials in Turkey, UEFA Disciplinary Board, UEFA Arbitration Board, and CAS, we were tried on the basis of the police’s summary of proceedings filled with lies and defamation.
We would like to declare to the global public opinion; the only truth lying before Turkey in the aftermath of this operation which now lacks any sense of legitimacy is that, the right to fair trial, in accordance with the European Convention of Human Rights and the judgments and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, is a must for all Turkey, and in particular, Fenerbahçe Sports Club and all others tried before Courts with Special Jurisdiction.
